The Bedell Collection presents E. Brady Robinson: ATLAS, a solo exhibition of photographs in
the private residence of art collector Carl Bedell in Arlington, VA. The exhibition runs September 26th thru October 24th. Press preview is September 26th at10:30am. Scheduled viewings on Tuesdays and Friday evenings and other viewing by appointment. Works courtesy of Addison/Ripley Fine Art.
E. Brady Robinson’s ATLAS is the second apartment show that Arlington based collector and arts patron Carl Bedell has hosted. A modern approach to presenting art, apartment shows provide the artist an opportunity to show their work in a residential setting where collectors can learn about the artist and their art in an intimate environment at artist talks and showings.
ATLAS is a survey of the past 11 years of Robinson’s photography. ATLAS presents bodies of work
traversed psychologically, conceptually and geographically that examine her use of the snapshot aesthetic, social experiments in documentary photography and the formal juxtaposition in composition and as an editing and sequencing device.
ATLAS combines major bodies of work and examines her documentary approach to photographing landscapes (Transfer, 2011), religious theme parks (Scenes from Jesusland, 2008), desks as portraits (Art Desks, 2014) and personal exploration (It’s Complicated, 2018 and SITCH, 2019). Robinson uses the camera as her diary, creating personal essays that slow down moments into a still frame of memory. In a world driven by technology, immediacy and speed, the camera is a witness and Robinson’s means to remember and be in the moment.
Robinson is a photographer based in Baltimore, MD. She divides her time between personal
art projects and commissioned work. Her documentary Art Desks was published by Daylight
Books with an essay by Andy Grundberg and distributed by ARTBOOK D.A.P. Her
photographs have been featured in The Washington Post, Channel One Russia TV, The Bund
Shanghai, Hyperallergic, PDN Photo of the Day, Featureshoot, Slate.com among others. Her
photographs have been exhibition nationally at the Orlando Museum of Art, Katzen Art Center
at American University and Art Miami. Select collections include: American University, Orlando
