Jeffrey Smith continues to explore the relationship between pattern, nature and photography and to juxtapose subtle texture with thin washes of color over his preliminary, neutral palette on paper, canvas and wood. A mid-career painter, whose work has been widely exhibited in the Washington, Maryland and Virginia region, Jeffrey Smith has produced work during the last decade that has been described as “poetic…post-Greenbergian abstraction” in Art in America.
