Artist Isabel Manalo creates mix media work that straddles issues of place, identity, geography, nature and post-colonial identity in the form of photography, collage, and paint. She has been awarded three consecutive fellowships (2008, 2009 and 2011) at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. In 2003, she was awarded the Juror’s Choice Award at the McLean Project for the Arts painting biennial, and was a semi-finalist for the Trawick Prize in both 2004 and 2008. She’s been featured in two volumes of New American Painting (2004 and 2006).
