Washington, DC: American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center, The Kreeger Museum,
Dumbarton Oaks, Jackson Art Center, Addison/Ripley Fine Art, and Klagsbrun Studios collaborate for Do
The Loop, a free day of indoor and outdoor art programming complete with shuttle service provided
between locations. Do the loop on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 11:00am-4:00pm. Stay up to date on

Each location will host unique programming throughout the day for visitors to choose their own
adventure as they are shuttled through Northwest DC to explore various art institutions all at free entry.
Shuttle service will begin at the American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center, where parking
will be available. With additional shuttle stops at The Kreeger Museum (where parking will also be
available next door at The Field School), and at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and R Street NW
(across from the Georgetown Public Library), visitors can hop on a shuttle departing approximately every
45 minutes to explore the next location.
AU Museum at the Katzen Art Center has a variety of exhibits on view including Madayin: Eight Decades
of Aboriginal Australian Bark Painting from Yirrkala; The Barlow Gilotty Collection; Gail Rebhan: About
Time; Still, Moving featuring works from the Corcoran Legacy Collection and curated by Master in Art
History Curatorial Practice Students; and End Quote, a Master of Fine Art Thesis Exhibition. There will be
recurring docent-led tours, hands-on crafts, and scavenger hunt activities available throughout the day–
perfect for kids and families.
Explore the galleries of The Kreeger Museum and view works by Picasso, Miro, Monet, Frankenthaler,
Gilliam, Stella, and Mitchell as well as outstanding African and Asian works. Access a QR code or use the
Bloomberg Connects app to learn more about specific works in the permanent collection, including
outdoor sculpture, as well as the history of the museum. Washington, DC jazz vocalist Lena Seikaly
performs in the Sculpture Garden at 2:00pm. Food trucks will offer lunch options and sweet treats in the
parking lot beginning at 12pm.
Dumbarton Oaks will be offering a workshop Playing With Your Food: Herbs and Edible Plants, where
participants will learn about the role edible plants play in our lives and ecosystems and create their own
work of art with paint made from fruits, vegetables, and spices. DO will also offer a 45-minute tour of the
Garden and Nature exhibition at 1:00pm, introducing visitors to select artworks in Dumbarton Oaks’
collections across different cultures: Byzantine, Mesoamerican, and Western European. They will host a
30-minute Garden Highlights Tour at 2:10pm, weather permitting, inviting visitors to contemplate the art
of garden design, landscape architecture, and the history of the gardens. Limited space is available.
There will be scheduled tours of Brier Patch with curator John Beardsley as well as drop-in plant-based
watercolor activities with the education team throughout the day.
Jackson Art Center will be offering a free Children’s Art Workshop from 1:00pm-3:00pm where
participants will celebrate Earth Day and the beauty of the naturalistic gardens that are Dumbarton Oaks
Park as we paint murals in our side courtyard. All ages are welcome.
Join Addison/Ripley Fine Art for opening day of their exhibition Wastelands by Trevor Young, a
Washington-area artist who teaches at the Washington Studio School. Do The Loop participants will be
able to catch a preview of that exhibition, opening at 5pm.
Cast in Shadow, a group exhibition featuring new works by Micheline Klagsbrun, Beverly Ress, and Andy
Yoder will be on view at Klagsbrun Studios. Curated by Vesela Sretenovic, Senior Curator and Director of
Contemporary Art Initiatives at the Phillips Collection, Cast in Shadow invites the artists to engage the
manifold implications of shadows, both aesthetically and conceptually. Klagsbrun’s working studio will
also be open for those interested in taking a look behind the scenes of the creative process. Various
artists from the studio’s DRAWN FROM LIFE exhibition will be present to discuss their work.
Complimentary refreshments will be served on the Studio’s spacious back patio.
